Marine autopilots consist of a Course Computer or Brain Box, an Electronic Fluxgate Compass, a Rudder Reference or Rudder Feedback Unit, and an Autopilot Drive such as a Reversible Hydraulic Pump or a Linear Actuator. Chart plotters and marine GPS units supply navigation data, while marine radars receive magnetic heading data through NMEA compliant interface connections.
